Greg Laurie's Harvest America: Royal Route To Heaven, Rick Warren & The Message

  As saddening as it may come to some, we are strongly encouraging our audience of readers to not partake or invite your friends to Greg Laurie's "Harvest America". I have no problem acknowledging that I've heard him preach an unwatered Gospel message (dealing with sin, repentance, Christ crucified buried and rising again and His return.). This might have many of you wondering then: Why discourage the participation? What may come as a surprise to some readers is the fact that Greg Laurie is planning on speaking at a conference with these guys:

  A man like Greg Laurie who is well known (Harvest America boasts it will reach 5 million people)  is encouraging many people to tune in to hear the Gospel for "Harvest America" and will then in a month and a half  introduce some possible new believers and many of his already followers to the likes of these men to help them with spiritual growth:

I don't know about you but anybody who seriously reads through any of these links will see the errors of these individuals. I strongly encourage you to pray for them and those they are leading that they will repent and not lead these people astray. Pray that Greg Laurie will turn from these things. As of this point and time I cannot encourage people- no matter saved or unsaved- to take part in an event with someone willing to compromise and lead God's precious sheep to a pack of wolves.

There is a quote and a recommendation for Rick Warren's book "The Purpose Driven Life" found on this PDF, here's the recommendation:

As with every single one of these studies found on the Harvest website, they list "The Message" as being a "thought-for-thought" translation.

There are a number of errors found within the pages of "The Message" with heavy new age overtones and yet so many seminaries present it as a legitimate "thought for thought" translation. This is what Eugene Peterson said about "The Message" from a Christianity Today quote from October 10, 2009
 "When I'm in a congregation where somebody uses [The Message] in the Scripture reading, it makes me a little uneasy. I would never recommend it be used as saying, "Hear the Word of God from The Message." But it surprises me how many do."

I've heard Greg Laurie quote from "The Message" even though I personally heard him only state that he was reading from a "modern translation". This is still very dangerous, understand the issues with "The Message":

We will chime in on the concerns with the Resurgence on a podcast prior to the event. Once again I strongly encourage you the reader to please be discerning and consider the side-effects / dangers of encouraging people to take part in "Harvest America" unfortunately in light of where Greg Laurie is headed.

Beware of Mind Up

Goldie Hawn of the Hawn foundation.org (http://www.thehawnfoundation.org/ ) has unleashed a new curriculum called Mind Up. The curriculum has a long list of teachers, Ph.D.s, and a neuroscientist who have been working with her to promote a practice in the classroom that will calm the students. On Nightline (viewed 9/27/2011) Goldie Hawn said that “many children are depressed and do not have the skills to calm themselves down therefore this increases bullying and aggressive behavior.” She also claimed one out of three children are on medication. So they designed a curriculum from K-12 that teaches metaphysics and mind altering techniques as a solution to the problem.



  In fact, one child experienced bullying, and when he tried to explain the other child’s behavior to his mother, the reason given was that “…the boy did not use his pre-frontal cortex to make good decisions and he often acted that way because of his amygdala. His mom was amazed.”

  Hawn claims that there has been a 30-50% improvement in children’s behavior since they have instituted this Mind Up program in the schools. On their website they claim 82% become more optimistic. The website also claims 100% of teachers thought Mind Up positively influenced the students. Hawn claims that “this is science” and says that she has been involved in the research of the brain for over ten years. However, in fact, it is not science but religion which is packaged in eastern metaphysics— from guided imagery, visualization, meditation, and connecting with the earth, and using the chime (a bell) as a way to get them re-focused.       

  There are two front scientific advisory council members. One is Amishi Jha PhD who is one of the featured teachers at the Upaya Institute Zen center. Then there is the second member of the board, Kimberly Schonert Reichl, and she is a featured speaker with the Dalai Lama Center.

  What makes this so dangerous is the fact they are teaching the kids “neuroscience” as a reason to the why they need Buddhism in their life. This removes the “religious” aspect and places religion in the scientific mold. The Mind Up program has already been launched throughout many schools, the Boy’s and Girls Clubs, and the YMCA (such as Akron Ohio) according to the Foundation’s website. …is already used in over 1,000 schools in the U.S. and Canada and aims to improve concentration and incorporates eastern meditation. The curriculum is designed for children from K to 7 and includes fifteen lessons across four units which include titles such as "Quieting the Mind: Sharpening the Focus" and "Mindful of Ourselves in the World."

  Scholastic is one of the main distributors of the curriculum. This program will only spread like wildfire. I suggest that as a parent you attend school boards and suggest to them that religion has been re-packaged under the name of “science,” and “Buddhism” is what is being taught. Let them know as a parent and a Christian you will not just stand by but will remove your child from its influence.

       "Chicken Soup For The Soul" by Jack Canfield the self esteem guru that presented the curriculum to the public schools has a new team helping him ."The Golden Motorcycle Gang" is more or less directing him to bring "Heaven on Earth" (page 176). On page 171 he writes " He completed his daily practice of light yoga exercises, followed by a brief meditation... His meditation that morning brought him into a deep trance like state...He found himself looking into the sky, and saw an incredible diamond  motorcycle rider racing toward him. ..two more...three more ...seven behind those five. The sequence continued, almost like a flock of geese revving their engines and flying towards  him... There must have been thousands of them filling the sky...Suddenly a female...The first words out her mouth were: "Thank you, Jack."..."Thank me for what?" "Why , for holding the space for the Diamond Motorcycle Gang to get ready for the next level of human evolution, of course...This female rider goes on to tell Jack that he had become something of a legend back at the academy of Enlightenment. Our teachers have been following your progress ever since you decided to incarnate as a human being."..She continues "Your Chicken soup series has warmed and nourished the souls of millions of people"...
This book "Chicken Soup For The Soul" series has sold millions and gives us an idea how sidetracked and deceived our society is. But that is not all, this book is sold in many Christian book stores as well. We think if it is marketed as a "Christian store" it must be o.k. The term Christian is a selling label for Music, books, and sadly many churches. Jack Canfield has also teamed up with Barbara Marx Hubbard a hardliner and leader in the New Age Movement.
